The Optec 1000 provides a complete array of vision exams, including acuity, color, muscle balance, and contrast sensitivity tests. The classic Optec 1000 kit includes the Elementary Test Slide (1000-22) Standard, the Multiple Acuity Slide (1000-23) Standard, Plus and Near Point lenses, Allen test flash card, dust cover, record forms, and instruction manual. The DMV is responsible for ensuring that drivers on the road are competent and able to drive safely. As part of this goal, the DMV requires vision testing before issuing drivers licenses. The Optec 1000 is the sole machine used by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to test distance vision in cases where people have difficulty reading the standard eye chart. The Optec 1000 is also utilized in occupations that use pre-employment vision testing to determine whether a candidate meets certain vision requirements regarding distance vision and/or the ability to discern color. Schools and athletic departments use the Optec 1000 to perform regular vision testing for students and athletes.
