A rotary microtome, used to cut very thin slices of plant and animal tissue for examination under a microscope. Capable of precise, uniform sectioning from 1 to 50 µm, adjustable in 1 µm increments. Mechanism is independent of up-and-down movement of object clamp, and provides automatically restricted total excursion of 28 mm. Up-and-down stroke of object clamp is 50 mm, sufficient for celloidin cutting. Takes specimen up to 32 x 27 mm, or stem of object disc. Knife holder takes knives 110 to 185 mm long, 28 to 35 mm wide.
